She’s a Gaoth Dobhair woman living in Letterkenny and teaching in Buncrana.
So there were a lot of tears in almost every part of Donegal when Anne McFadden decided to retire.
Anne has taught at Crana College for the past 37 years and instilled a love of both Irish and geography into thousands of pupils who passed through her classrooms.
Her loving colleagues and friends last wek said a final farewell to the woman they hold so dear.
There were tears of laughter and sadness as they all gathered in the Red Door in Fahan to celebrate Anne’s life and times and wish her well in her retirement.
A spokesperson said Crana College said Anne will be sorely missed by all.
“Anne was admired and adored by both staff and pupils. She instilled a love of the Irish language and the Irish culture to all her students Anne has given a lifetime of service and education to many, many students of Crana’s college.
“All the tears shed on Friday last was a testament to her commitment and dedication to students and staff alike. She will be sadly missed in Crana college. We wish her all the best in her retirement. Beatha agus sláinte.”
