A world-famous postman to give a talk at next week’s Ballybofey, Stranorlar & District Historical Society gathering.

Retired Glenfin postie, Michael ‘Aimsir’ Gallagher, will give what should be a fascinating presentation on old Irish cures and remedies on Monday night in the Twin Towns.

Michael has collected information on the subject from older people over the last 60 years. He has published a book ‘Remedies and Cures of a Bygone Era’ which will be available at the talk for €10. Michael has also made headlines over the years, using studies of behaviour of animals and plants to accurately determine the nature of the weather.

Everyone is welcome to this free event which starts at 8pm on Monday night in Henderson Hall, Stranorlar (F93 XV29).

Membership of this group is rising all the time, so if you are interested in local history, come and join us.

Meetings and talks take place on the fourth Monday of the month.

For further information on the society, and updates, go to their Facebook page or email bsadhs@gmail.com
