An exhibition of rarely seen images of Tory Island and its inhabitants by a world-renowned photojournalist is to move to Gweedore next week.

‘Looking Back, Tory Island’, by Eric Luke, has been showing at the island’s Community Centre since July. However, it will transfer to An Gailearaí in Gweedore next weekend.

The mainland launch will take place on Saturday, November 2, at 8pm. Tory musicians will be in attendance. The launch is open to the public.

The exhibition will run until December 13th.

An Gailearaí is situated at Ionad Áislann, Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair, Na Doirí Beaga.

This exhibition will showcase a beautiful selection of Eric Luke’s photographs of Tory Island from the 1970s up to the present day.

Luke’s career in photojournalism spans almost five decades. He has covered major news events, including two World Cups, five Olympic Games, and other news and feature stories both in Ireland and worldwide.

Eric has won numerous awards, including the World Press Photo News Award and PPAI Photographer of the Year, over a forty-year career in photojournalism.
