Gardaí believe a van fire in Lifford at the weekend may have been started maliciously.

The incident occurred in the area of Glenfad, Porthall, on Saturday night between 11pm and 11.15pm.

Gardaí and the Fire Service responded to a call in relation to a Ford Transit van that was on fire in a yard at that location.

“It is believed that the fire may have been started maliciously,” Garda Sean Sweeney said.

“We appeal to anybody who may have observed suspicious activity or vehicles in that area between those times to make contact with Gardaí. As always, we appeal to anyone who may have travelled in that area with a dash-cam to make the footage available to us.”

Gardaí may be contacted in Letterkenny on 0749167100 in relation to this incident. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111.
