A body recovered off the coast of Scotland has been confirmed as that of a man missing from the Isle of Doagh.

The man, aged in his 70s, was last seen entering the sea at Lagacurry Beach on 5th October.

An extensive sea search had taken place across the Inishowen area in recent weeks.

On Thursday 24th October, the body of a man was spotted by a local ferry crew in the Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. Emergency services were tasked to recover the remains.

A formal identification has now confirmed that he is the man missing from Donegal.

Gardaí have ended their missing persons appeal and thanked the public and media for their assistance.

A Family Liaison Officer has been providing assistance to the family.
