The Ramelton Country Market is cancelled this Saturday (2nd November) as a mark of respect following the death of a popular member, Jim Mailley.

Mr Mailley, a talented baker, died after a road incident on the outskirts of Kerrykeel on Tuesday. It is believed that he suffered a medical emergency while driving.

Originally from Dumbarton in Scotland, Mr Mailley, aged 65, had been living in Kerrykeel for a number of years.

He ran the popular local Carlan Bakery and was a regular seller at the Ramelton Country Market.

A notice from the market said he will be greatly missed by the community.

“Jim will be dearly missed by his family, his friends and all who knew him. He was a valued member of Ramelton Country Market, known for his quick wit and culinary skills.

“As a mark of respect, Ramelton Country Market will be closed on Saturday 02/11/2024.

“We offer our condolences to Mary-Rose and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time. We’ll miss you Jim.”
