Obituary details have been announced for James (Jim) Mailley, a popular baker, who passed away following a road incident on Tuesday.

Mr Mailley, 65, died in a single-vehicle collision on the outskirts of Kerrkeel on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed he suffered a medical emergency while driving.

A native of Dumbarton in Scotland, he had been living in Donegal for some time where he ran the Carlan Bakery. He was a friendly face at various country markets throughout the county.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at The Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny F92 XE35 on Saturday 2nd November at 11am.

Jim’s remains will then be repatriated to Scotland where a cremation will take place at a later date.

Jim is mourned by his partner, Mary Rose McVey, and his extended family and friends.

Ramelton Country Market will be closed on Saturday as a mark of respect.

A notice said: “He was a valued member of Ramelton Country Market, known for his quick wit and culinary skills.

“We offer our condolences to Mary-Rose and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time. We’ll miss you Jim.”
