Donegal had plenty of representation at the annual Pride of Place awards last night in Monaghan.

Coiste Forbartha na Carraige/Carrick Development Group were one of the organisations nominated at the prestigious event in the Community Tourism Initiative category.

They received the runners-up prize in the category, which was a more than pleasant surprise for the delegates at the ceremony.

“We were honoured to have been nominated by Donegal County Council in the Community Tourism Initiative category and did not expect to get an award, so it came as a shock when our name was called!”, they posted on social media after collecting their trophy.

“This is a great recognition of the work that has been done locally these past few years, and we thank all you in the community who have helped and supported us over that time,” they concluded.
