Irish-American Democrat Brendan Boyle has won his re-election to the United States House of Representatives.

Boyle, the son of Glencolmcille native Francis Boyle, represents Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District. Francis Boyle emigrated at just 19 from Glencolmcille in 1970.

With the final votes to be announced, NBC reports that Boyle has a 71% lead over his Republican opponent, Aaron Bashir.

This will be Boyle’s sixth term in his heavily Democratic district in Philadelphia.

As of 10am Irish time, Donald Trump has a fine majority percentage of 50.8% in the Pennsylvania Election Results, which represents 19 electoral college votes.
