Finn Harps Football Club has confirmed it has sold more than 500 of its new share options within 48 hours of them going on sale on Tuesday.

For as little as €25 per year (including a share purchase), anyone can now become a member and part-owner of the club, joining a community-driven, fan owned movement that ‘stands against the tide’ of private ownership in modern football.

The immediate goal for Finn Harps is to reach 3,000 members this year to become Ireland’s largest fan owned football club.

“We’re really on our way –  we smashed through the 500 members milestone earlier today,” a club spokesperson said last night.

“This is just the beginning – tell your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and even your enemies.”

Donegal Daily understands that at least ten percent of shares sold so far have gone to people living abroad.

“Join the movement, support Donegal’s only senior football team, and become an owner of ‘The Harps’ today,” the spokesperson added.
