The N56 road through Bruckless has reopened following a collision at the weekend.

A woman in her 70s was hospitalised with serious injuries after being struck by a car on Saturday evening at 6.10pm.

The road was closed throughout Saturday night and Sunday as Gardaí carried out investigations.

Local Councillor Manus Boyle said he will begin today on a plan to light up the area where the incident occurred.

“My best wishes and prayers to the lady injured in this accident,” said Cllr Boyle.

“A safer crossing with lighting is an urgent requirement and input from TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland) will be requested.”
