Overnight snow to hit Donegal as cold snap begins

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for snow and ice in Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan and Leitrim tonight (Monday).

The warning is valid from 7pm this evening until 8am on Tuesday morning.

Forecasters are warning of a risk of difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

This is the first cold snap of the winter 24/25 season, with frost, ice and showers expected throughout the coming days.

An Arctic airmass will sink over the country from the north, causing very cold daytime temperatures and freezing conditions overnight from Monday-Friday.
