An investigation is underway into an assault in Letterkenny town centre last Friday evening.

The incident took place around 7.05pm on the evening of 15th November in the vicinity of Market Square.

A man was approached by a group of youths who subsequently assaulted him.

While the victim’s injuries are not described as life-threatening, he did require treatment at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have any information to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who may have been in the area of Market Square at the time of the incident.

A spokespersons said: “CCTV from the area is being examined but we are still always anxious to receive any available dash-cam footage so if anybody was in the area who can supply us with footage we ask them to please do so.”

Anybody who can assist is asked to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100.
