Two men have been pronounced dead after a serious crash last night in East Donegal.

The two-car collision took place on the N15 at Liscooley last night, at approximately 10pm.

Two men aged in their 30s who were travelling in the same vehicle were killed in the collision.

These latest deaths now bring the number of people killed on Donegal’s roads this year to 16, compared to ten deaths last year.

Two pensioners, a woman and a man aged in their 70s from the second vehicle involved in the incident were also rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Another person travelling in their car, a woman in her 30s, was also treated for non-life threatening injuries also.

The incident took place just inside the 50kph zone entering the village on the Killygordon side, with road conditions understood to be good at the time.

The N15 at Liscooley remains closed this morning, pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the collision to come forward, particularly anyone with camera or dash-cam footage who were travelling in the Liscooley area last night near the time of the collision to come forward.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Gardaí on 074 91 67 100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
