‘Totally unacceptable’ – residents endure fifth day without water

Residents in the Bomany, Conwal, Tullygay, and Roughan areas outside Letterkenny have been grappling with a water outage for the past five days.

The disruption has sparked more frustration in the area, which is awaiting major infrastructure works.

Councillor Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has slammed the recent outage as “totally unacceptable from Uisce Eireann”.

Cllr Kelly said it was a disgrace that families and elderly people were left “in this day and age” without water in their homes “after all the rain we have seen”.

“It’s shocking that they are not able to wash clothes, dishes, flush toilets, even brush their teeth or wash their face,” Cllr Kelly said.

Cllr Kelly said he is in constant conversation with Uisce Eireann on the problems.

However, after attempts to reach the company today, Cllr Kelly told Donegal Daily that the lack of response “is not good enough.”

“I have been talking to our own Director of Service in Donegal County Council and he is doing everything in his power. I am hoping to have a positive update on this very soon.”
