A huge crowd lined the streets of Castlederg this afternoon as the first victim of last weekend’s road tragedy in Liscooley in east Donegal was laid to rest.
Gordy Galbraith’s family and friends carried his coffin through the town centre after a Service of Thanksgiving was held at the family home at Hospital Road.
Mr. Galbraith died instantly alongside his friend Ryan Glenn when the car they were travelling in was in direct collision with another vehicle last Friday night.
A third victim of the tragedy, Samuel Hunter of Murlog, Lifford, passed away on Tuesday as a result of his injuries. His wife Dolores remains in a serious condition in the hospital.
Rev. Peter Ferguson, Rector at Derg Parish Church of Ireland led the Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Gordy Galbraith today at the family home.

The service included scripture readings, prayers and reflections before his remains were took to Castlederg Cemetery for burial which is at the far side of the bridge over the Derg River.
The coffin which was carried shoulder high paused briefly between the Derg Arms and Castle Inn which are directly across from each other, places were Gordy socialised.
The hearse bore floral tributes which included “brother”, “dad” and “son” while a huge crowd both walked and stood along the route of the cortege.
Mourners included his two sons, his father and siblings.
Ryan Glenn will also be buried tomorrow in the same cemetery after a Family Service of Thanksgiving at Lynch’s Funeral Home.
Samuel Hunter will be laid to rest in his native Milford after a Funeral Service at his adopted Ballindrait Presbyterian Church.
