Donegal broadcaster Ciara Doherty has announced she is leaving Virgin Media for a “new adventure”.

The Letterkenny presenter, who fronts The Tonight Show on Virgin Media, is wrapping up her time with the station after 14 years.

“I’ve decided to move on from late nights and early mornings to begin a new adventure,” Ciara told followers on Instagram.

“Thank you to my incredible colleagues and friends, to all of our guests and especially to the viewers who joined me along the way.”

Ciara, who is a qualified barrister, began her time with Virgin Media One reporting and presenting Ireland AM for 10 years.

She is staying tight-lipped about her next career move, but as a keen political reporter, Ciara said she isn’t leaving just yet.

“Before I depart there’s the small matter of an election! See you all tonight at 10.35pm for our election special.”
