A Donegal native has won An Post’s prestigious Bookshop of the Year award.

Jenni Doherty from Greencastle owns the Little Acorns Bookstore, based in Derry.

Little Acorns won out against stout competition, standing out as the very best of the 12 bookshops nominated for the award.

Jenni was able to collect the award at the 2024 An Post Irish Book Awards earlier this week.

She says that Little Acorns winning the award has been “magical”.

“Oh wow! It’s been a truly magical whirlwind 48 hours & I’m still on a massive high,” she posted on social media.
!Thank-you SO SO MUCH to An Post Irish Book Awards, An Post, Bookselling Ireland & to all those who initially voted in public vote, to all the other fabulous judges; the amazing booksellers who I was/am very honoured to be alongside; to all those magical creators who write, draw, make, champion, sell, read, love books.”

“What an honour to be part of your story!”
