The Donegal County Library Service is thrilled to announce the launch of the highly anticipated Family Time at Your Library programme, a festive celebration designed to engage families in the magic of reading and storytelling this December!

Throughout the month of December 2024, Donegal libraries will transform into wonderlands of creativity and joy, offering a wide range of free family-oriented events and activities. The program is packed with exciting events from storytelling sessions with Lennie the Lizard to festive crafting opportunities with Santa and his elves, making it the perfect way to celebrate the festive season together. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.

Festive Highlights Include:

  • Storytelling and Craft Family Time : Join Lennie the Lizard and Santa’s elves for Christmas-themed storytelling sessions, followed by delightful festive crafting activities.
  • Stories and Songs with Mrs. Claus : A heart-warming session filled with festive tales and tunes to make your holiday season extra special.
  • Family Festive Lego Challenges : Show off your building skills in our fun Lego challenges that encourage creativity and teamwork!
  • Festive Bingo : Gather the family for a spirited game of Bingo with a fun, festive twist.
  • Christmas Card Making Workshop : Get crafty and create beautiful Christmas cards that you can share with loved ones.
  • Christmas PJ Party : Put on your favorite pyjamas, relax, and enjoy a cozy evening of storytelling and festive tunes for the whole family to enjoy.

These engaging events aim to foster a lifelong love of reading, while supporting Ireland’s Right to Read programme , and highlighting the importance of family involvement in children’s reading experiences. Donegal Libraries offer a vast selection of Christmas books for both adults and children plus, there are no longer any fines! The Family Time at Your Library events create a supportive environment for children to experience the joy of reading, both at the library and at home.

The Donegal County Library Service invites families from across Donegal to visit their local library and take part in this festive celebration of books, creativity, and fun.

For more details about the exciting events and activities happening in your area, please contact your local library or visit our website at www.donegalculture.ie
