At least one person was hospitalised following a violent disturbance between two groups in a Twin Towns bar at the weekend.

Gardaí confirmed they responded to reports of a row at a premises in Ballybofey, at approximately 10.45pm on Friday night.

“A man in his 40s was injured and received treatment at hospital. Investigations ongoing,” a spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said.

However, Donegal Daily understands a number of other people were injured, including the landlady who suffered a serious injury.

A video of the fracas, widely circulated on social media, shows a large number of people involved in the incident. Bar stools and glasses and bottles can also be seen to be used as missiles.

The row is understood to have broken out between two groups – one local and one from south Donegal.
