A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after ANOTHER collision on Donegal’s roads.

The latest crash happened just before midnight last night in Inishowen.

A woman in her 40s was seriously injured after a single vehicle collision in the Glengad area.

Gardai say the single-vehicle collision occurred on a local road at Culkeeny shortly before midnight.

The driver and sole occupant, a woman in her 40s, was transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for most of the day to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

However, it has since reopened to traffic.

A Garda spokesperson said investigations into the crash, which happened close to the Fisherman’s Inn, are ongoing.

The latest crash happened just hours after a teenager was killed a few hours earlier just a few kilometres away.

Tieran Kelly Doherty, 18, died after he was involved in a single vehicle collision around 5am yesterday morning.

The tragedy occurred on the R244 known locally as the Mountain Road at Ballinlough.

Mr Kelly Doherty, who was from Carndonagh, died at the scene.

He was the eighteenth person to die on Donegal’s roads so far this year compared to ten for all of last year.

It is the greatest number of deaths on Donegal’s roads since 19 people perished in 2010.

Head of the Road Traffic Corps in the county, Inspector Seamus McGonigle has pleaded with people to exercise all caution when getting behind the wheel.
