Despite Storm Darragh’s best efforts, the village of Newtowncunningham got its ‘lights switch-on’ just in time for Christmas!

The village had no electricity thanks to Darragh’s efforts. However, ‘Plan B’ worked a treat as scores of young and old lined the streets on Sunday evening and the Big Man himself paid a special visit.

“So, our fabulous team has come up with some serious ‘will – power’ not to disappoint the children of the village,” a spokesperson for the organisers said.

“We were excited to announce that Santa Claus would be touring the village in his Stinger sleigh, spreading festive cheer and handing out goodies to all the children along the way.”

This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to see Santa up close, and he was sure to give the  little ones a magical experience!

“We look forward to seeing everyone out enjoying the holiday spirit. Ho Ho Ho. Wishing you all a joyful Christmas from Joe and the A Team.”
