The village of Redcastle has lost a ‘real gem’ following the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Hannon.

Ms Hannon, from Greencastle, was a much-valued member of her community through her work at the Redcastle Post Office.

She passed away peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital on Friday last.

The Redcastle Village Association has paid a warm tribute to their “post mistress and friend”.

“Elizabeth was the kindest most gentle lady and showed support to many,” they said.

“She was the Google maps/assist long before it was dreamt of.

“Her great character and knowing smile will always be held dearly in our hearts x RIP Elizabeth.”

Condolences have been shared with Elizabeth’s husband Michael, children Catherine (Declan) and Seamus and her grandchildren Dáithí, Cahir, Charlie and Conan.

She is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her family, her sister and brothers, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.
