New holiday accommodation block to be built at Donegal Town bar

Planning permission has been granted for a new accommodation block at the rear of a pub in the centre of Donegal Town.

KBS Property Management Ltd, with a registered address in Mountcharles, will build 29 ensuite bedrooms behind O’Donnell’s Bar in The Diamond.

The proposed development will see the demolition of the existing rear extension and the construction of a new three storey building. 

Two adjoining property owners lodged submissions stating that windows in the new development would be overlooking their premises.

However, council planners granted permission, subject to 14 conditions.

One condition states that the B&B accommodation should be used for short-term letting of less than 90 days. They must not be used for permanent living.
