A community-led project that is planting native trees across Donegal has received a bit of an early Christmas gift.

Love Woodland Northwest have already planted in excess of 3,000 trees across Donegal, at sites in Bundoran, East Annagry and Tullaghan.

Now a further 2,000 trees have been delivered to the organisation – six weeks ahead of schedule, and just before Christmas.

Despite the unexpected early delivery, all the trees are able to be stored for three months before they need to be planted – with plans already set in place for all 2,000 trees.

400 trees will be donated to various community groups, with a further 400 set to be planted next weekend, the 28th and 29th of December.

However, there are still 1,200 spots that Love Woodland Northwest need to be made ready for planting as well,

Anyone who is interested in volunteering for some tree planting can contact lovewoodland@yahoo.com or call 086 600 7800.
