A local community group has appealed for the return of a Christmas tree which was stolen from a public area in Doochary this morning.

The incident took place sometime between 11:30 am to 1pm at the Corkscrew Picnic Area.

A spokesperson for the Doochary Development Group has appealed for the tree to be returned immediately.

“Between 11.30am and 1pm today a Christmas tree planted in the new planter boxes at the Corkscrew picnic area was stolen,” a statement on the Doochary Development Facebook page read.

“This area is covered by CCTV – if you took the tree be warned, we will be checking the footage. If you took the tree please return it.”

If you witnessed the theft, or have any information, please message the Doochary Development Facebook page or inform local Gardai.
