After a night when temperatures dropped to as low as -6, Met Éireann is forecasting a rise in temperatures over the weekend.

However it will be a cold day today across Ulster, staying dry with hazy sunshine, though cloud will thicken later. Highest temperatures of 1 to 3 degrees in light to moderate easterly winds.

Tonight will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading northeastwards, turning to sleet in places with snow for a time on high ground. Not as cold as previous nights with lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southeast winds.

Tomorrow, rain will clear to the northeast through the morning. Staying cloudy for the rest of the day with a good deal of dry weather overall, though a few patches of light rain and drizzle will linger. Highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees, though it will be milder near coasts, in light to moderate southerly winds.
