An urgent fire safety recall has been issued for Morco Open-Flued Gas Water Heaters, some of which have been sold in Donegal.

Certain models of the gas-powered water heaters pose a potential fire and gas explosion risk in mobile homes and caravans and domestic settings, where they are normally installed.

The models affected were sold between 2018 and 2023, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

The CCPC reports there are approximately 1,000 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

The distributors in Ireland who have sold or installed the products include:

  • Johnston’s Caravans Ltd, Dromore, Letterkenny, F92 PP89, Co. Donegal.
  • Mectec Gas Limited, Unit 8, Nordic Enterprise Park, Knockgriffin, Midleton, P25 AE22, Co. Cork.
  • Gas Equipment Ireland, Unit 19, Nordic Enterprise Park, Knockgriffin, Midleton, P25 NF43, Co. Cork.
  • Gas Home Limited, 20A Grants Park, Greenogue, Rathcoole, D24 EH34, Co. Dublin.
  • Burkes Caravan Services Ltd, Shanagarry, Midleton, P25 A432, Co. Cork.

“The product has a risk of fire, explosion, and injuries. There is a risk of gas leaking which, if ignited may cause burns, explosions, and injuries,” said the recall notice.

“The brand is Morco. The 4 models are Primo 6 (MP6), Primo 11 (MP11), EUP6 (6 Litre Water Heater Open Flue) and EUP11 (11 Litre Water Heater Open Flue).”
