Today marks the 32nd anniversary of the passing of Garda Michael Joseph Lawless.

On this date 32 years ago, Garda Lawless, a resident of Ballyshannon, tragically lost his life in a road traffic collision.

He was en route to Dublin to attend a Garda Representative Association (GRA) meeting when the incident occurred near Cliffoney, Co. Sligo.

Sadly, he passed away at the scene.

A spokesperson from An Garda Síochána in Donegal expressed their condolences, stating, “May Garda Lawless and all of our deceased colleagues rest in peace.”
