Funeral for beloved Buncrana crash victim to be held this Wednesday

A cloud of heartache sits over Buncrana this week as the community comes to terms with the tragic passing of a much-loved local woman.

Rose Byrne of Mill Brae died from her injuries following a collision between a car and two pedestrians on Tuesday afternoon last.

Mrs Bryne, aged in her 80s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital but sadly passed away on Sunday.

A much-loved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Mrs Byrne will be laid to rest tomorrow, Wednesday.

Her remains are reposing at her home at 68A Mill Brae, Buncrana F93 Y6V6.

Removal from there on Wednesday morning, 22nd January at 9.30am to St. Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana for Requiem Mass at 10.00am followed by interment in Burt Cemetery F93 F2D6.

Requiem Mass can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/buncrana.

Family time please from 11.00pm to 11.00am and on the morning of the funeral.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the tragedy to come forward.

Road users who were travelling on Main Street, Buncrana, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, are urged to contact Gardaí if they have any information or dash-cam footage.
