Storm Éowyn: Numerous Donegal roads remain blocked by fallen trees

Donegal County Council reminds the public that road conditions throughout the county continue to be treacherous this evening with fallen trees on numerous routes. 

Wind warnings for Donegal were lifted at 4pm, however, some roads are still blocked. Met Eireann has also issued a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Donegal tonight. The alert will be valid from 9pm until 9am tomorrow.

If there are trees down, or there are other issues in your area resulting from Storm Éowyn, you can report them to the council on Facebook and Twitter by using #EowynDL 

Some roads have reopened, including the Milford to Kilmacrennan road.

For a full list of roads affected, go to the Donegal County Council Facebook page.

A number of roads are currently impassable, including the following:

17:13: Trees down at Black Farm in Buncrana (council crew on site).

 

17: 10: Road partially blocked Cherry Avenue,Carndonagh.

 

17:05: Brea Road (Burnfoot) blocked by fallen Trees.

 

17:00: Aileach Road Blocked by trees. Crews will clear tomorrow.

 

10:22am: Tree down on N13 at Lurgybrack, Letterkenny, road still passable.

 

10:22am: Clarcam – Road blocked by fallen tree

 

10:06am: L1613 Loughanure to Meenamarragh Road blocked by fallen tree.

 

10:00am: The Kilmacrenan to Milford road is blocked due to a fallen tree and wires.

Donegal County Council will be monitoring #EowynDL on social media and the public are encouraged to use this hashtag when posting local issues on Facebook or on X (Twitter).
