Man and woman, 20s, arrested following Letterkenny drugs raid

Gardaí have arrested a man and woman in their 20s following a raid in Letterkenny this morning which uncovered more than €4,000 worth of cannabis and cocaine.

During the course of the search, suspected cocaine with a value of €2,800 and suspected cannabis with a value of €1,200 along with €1,900 and £230 sterling was seized. The search took place as part of Operation Tara.  

The Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit were assisted by members of the Armed Support Unit in executing a search warrant at a property in the town.

“A man and a woman (both aged in their 20’s) have been arrested and are currently detained at a Garda Station in the Donegal Division under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who has information in relation to the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Donegal or the border region to contact the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit on 0749167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels, international, national, and local, involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production and local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
