Tributes have been paid to a popular Fermanagh man who tragically lost his life in a workplace accident this week.

Gerry Keown, of Belleek, Co Fermanagh, suffered a fatal accident at a premises at Lisahully in Ballyshannon on Wednesday afternoon.

Gerry, aged in his 60s, was a beloved husband and father who recently retired from working at the Mill Park Hotel in Donegal Town.

Heartbroken communities across Donegal and Fermanagh have remembered Gerry as a true gentleman who was kind and friendly to all.

A tribute from the Mill Park hotel team said: “It is with shock and great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our dear colleague and friend, Gerry Keown.

“Gerry was a valued member of our maintenance team from September 2002 until his retirement in September 2024. During this time, he was not only dedicated to keeping our hotel running smoothly but also brought kindness, hard work, and a warm spirit to every day.

“His presence, humour, and willingness to lend a helping hand will never be forgotten.

“Our thoughts are with his wife Marie, son Jason, family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace Gerry.”

Funeral arrangements will be confirmed at a later date. House private at present.
