St Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny will welcome the Sacred Heart Crusade this Friday.

Members of the diocese are invited to pray with one of four pilgrim statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which have been blessed by Pope Francis.

Letterkenny-based priest, Fr. Shane Gallagher, the Chaplain of Letterkenny University Hospital, travelled to Rome in January for the Papal blessing.

Each of the four statues have been sent to one of the four ecclesial provinces in Ireland, where they will travel throughout parishes to revitalise the faith in Ireland.

This mission aims to provide the faithful with a chance to have a true “heart to heart”, with the Lord and that there will be renewed devotion to Sacred Heart.

St Eunan’s Cathedral will celebrate a special Mass on Friday 7th February at 7pm to mark the arrival of the Sacred Heart Crusade.

The statue will then continue its journey to other parishes within the Raphoe Diocese.

“As we gather on this First Friday, a day traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart, we invite you to come and share in this moment of faith, devotion, and grace,” said a notice from the Raphoe Diocese.
