Glencolmcille resident Darragh Tyrell has donated ‘locks of love’ to LauraLynn Children’s Hospice after braving a major haircut!

Darragh has raised €3,600 so far after parting with his extra long luscious hair on Wednesday. Not only did he raise a superb sum, but his healthy hair is going to be turned into a wig for children battling illness.

Darren Whelan in Soul Hairdressing in Ardara did the honours, leaving Darragh with a much more manageable do!

Darragh, a native of Greystones in Wicklow, is currently living in Donegal with his wife Ann McLaughlin.

At the turn of the New Year, he decided to do some good for charity in memory of his cousin Breda, who passed away from cancer in September 2024. Breda, a beloved woman, mother and wife, was a big advocate for making the world a brighter place, and this fundraiser is Darragh’s way to honour her memory.

The money raised will go towards LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, which provides support for children from all over the country with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Now that the challenge is complete, Darragh issued his thanks to Darren at Soul Hairdressing in Ardara and to all the donators.

“I am truly humbled by your generosity and kind words have meant so much,” he said.

The donations will be closing on Wednesday the 12th of February.
