Prosecution to finish their case today in Sliabh Liag murder trial

The prosecution side in the Sliabh Liag murder trial are expected to finish their case in the Central Criminal Court today.

Two people are on trial for the murder of Robert Wilkin whose body was found in the water off south Donegal.

Alan Vial (39) of Drumanoo Head, Killybegs, and Nikita Burns (23) of Carrick, have pleaded not guilty to the murder of the 66-year-old on June 25, 2023.

A number of people including family and friends of those charged have so far given evidence.

The case has lasted two weeks to date.

Mr Justice Paul McDermot will indicate the next phase of the trial today.

However, its is expected that it will finish next week when a jury will be asked to deliberate on a verdict.
