The Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford has proposed to hold civic receptions to honour the achievements of two local GAA clubs.

Councillor Gerry McMonagle called for an official event to mark the Downings Ladies reaching their first-ever All-Ireland Final in December after winning the Ulster LGFA Junior Football Championship.

“We should provide a civic reception for them to acknowledge their achievements and wish them well in the future,” Cllr McMonagle told today’s meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford MD.

The Mayor also proposed an event to celebrate the successes of St Eunan’s GAA club, congratulating them on their Donegal Senior Football Championship win, alongside victories in other competitions including Junior Hurling and Underage Ladies Football.

The dates for the receptions will be announced at a later time.
