Gardaí are seeking the whereabouts of a lorry driver who collided with an ESB pole in Killygordon at the weekend before leaving the scene.

The potentially dangerous incident resulted in live wires exploding on the main street of the village and causing a major power outage. Luckily no one was injured in the incident which occurred on Friday evening at approximately 5.55pm.

A low loader lorry carrying a dumper was travelling from the direction of Castlefin towards Ballybofey when it collided with the ESB pole.

“The road was closed for a time and many homes were without power as a result of the collision,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.

“We appeal to anybody who may have witnessed the incident to contact Letterkenny Gardaí on 07491 67100. If anybody travelled on the N15 between Castlefin and Ballybofey/Stranorlar with a dash cam on that date between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, we ask them to please make the footage available to us.”

The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
