The Central Hotel in Donegal Town has paid tribute to their well-known former employee, Mary Hyland.

Late of 19 Drumcliffe Terrace, Ms Hyland passed away peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital on Tuesday and was laid to rest this afternoon.

Her family formerly owned the Hylands Central in the town and she continued to work at the Central Hotel following its change of ownership.

“We are heartbroken by the passing of our dear former colleague and friend, Mary Hyland,” the Central Hotel posted on their social media channels today.

“Her family’s deep-rooted connection to the Central, along with her over 50 years of unwavering loyalty and service to the hotel, is a true reflection of her remarkable character. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, dear Mary. You will be greatly missed.”

Predeceased by her father John her mother Brede and her brother Liam, Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family, Ann (Junior RIP), Bregeen (Pauric), Joan, Leonie and Bernie (Oliver), nieces, nephews and extended family here and abroad and her many friends.

Her funeral mass took place at 1pm today at St Agatha’s Church, Clar, and she was laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
