Donegal restaurants earn Michelin recommendations… again!

Two of Donegal’s most esteemed restaurants have maintained their Michelin recommendations for 2025.

The Lemon Tree in Letterkenny and The Olde Glen Bar have both secured recognition again by the prestigious guide.

A total of 1,147 restaurants – including 220 Starred ones – are included in the Michelin Guide of the best places to dine in Great Britain and Ireland.

The Lemon Tree has featured in the Guide for many years, and The Olde Glen Bar has once again maintained its spot after being recommended by Michelin inspectors for the first time in 2023.

The judges say that if you dine at the Lemon Tree, you will “leave with a smile on your face”.

“A brother, sisters and cousins all work together to deliver surprisingly modern dishes which draw from Donegal’s natural larder. The salted caramel tart is a must,” they said of the long-established restaurant. The Lemon Tree marked its 26th year in business this week.

Of the Olde Glen Bar, the Michelin Guide said: “This remote inn dates from the 1760s, and its somewhat modest façade gives little indication as to the charm and character that lies within. The bar is always filled with locals, and the large dining room plays host to a set menu which boasts plenty of fish and shellfish from nearby shores, including local oysters and house-smoked salmon; while the fermented potato bread gets things off to a great start. There are cosy bedrooms available too.”
