Gardaí have thanked a group of young Donegal supporters who handed in a missing bank card they found at a match.

The group of young fans were attending Donegal’s league victory against Armagh in Ballybofey at the weekend.

Gardaí say that the young fans found the bank card and handed it in to a nearby Garda who was on duty at the game.

Following some enquiries, the card was then returned to a visiting Armagh supporter.

An Garda Síochána Donegal thanked the young fans for their honourable gesture via social media today.

“It is important to acknowledge and recognise the contribution that many of our young people make within our communities,” they said.

“Yesterday, when the Donegal V Armagh match had ended in Ballybofey, a group of young spectators handed a bank card that they had found at the game to Gardaí on duty.”

“Enquires were made and a short time later the card was returned to a very grateful Armagh supporter.”

“A big thank you to the youths involved for their honesty. They are a credit to themselves, their families, their clubs and to Donegal!”
