National: Two women killed in separate crashes in the North

Two women have been killed in separate crashes in the North.

Both accidents occurred yesterday afternoon.

The first accident took place just after 3pm, outside Coleraine.

A woman was killed after a collision which involved a Seat Ibiza and a Toyota Hilux.

The woman, who was the driver of the Seat died at the scene.

Elsewhere, the second fatal collision took place on the main Dungannon-Cookstown Road shortly before 5pm.

The crash involving a Ford Ka and a Nissan Note occurred close to the Old Loughrey Road.

The woman who was killed in the crash was a passenger in the Ford.

Meanwhile the male drivers of both vehicles and a young child who was travelling in the Nissan, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Anyone who witnessed either of the fatal collisions has been asked to come forward.
