The R263 (Kilcar to Killybegs road) was reopened yesterday evening following a serious collision.

A five-year-old boy was hospitalised after being struck by a vehicle at around 5pm on Friday. He was immediately rushed to Sligo General Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí had closed the route at Largy for much of Saturday to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene.

The road was reopened shortly before 5pm yesterday.
