Met Eireann has changed the timings of a wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo today (Sunday).

Donegal is facing two separate status yellow alerts today due to heavy rain and strong winds.

The first warning, from 2am this morning until 3pm in the afternoon, warns of wind and rain creating potentially difficult travelling conditions.

Donegal football fans travelling to Salthill may experience difficult conditions, as the warning affects Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo as well as Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Munster.

The second alert has been reduced for this evening.

Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will be under a yellow wind warning from 3pm until 7pm. This warning was previously in place until midnight.

Road users are being urged to be on alert for fallen trees and loose debris throughout today.

Met Eireann forecasts “plenty of bright weather on the way in the coming days, although with showers or rain at times. Temperatures around average for late February.”
