Two successful fundraisers took place in Falcarragh last weekend in support of local woman Kathleen Barrett, after a devastating house fire left her homeless.

Mrs Barrett escaped with her life when a blaze ripped through her home on the night of January 23rd.

A widow and cancer survivor, Mrs Barrett continues her recovery while living in temporary accommodation.

Last Saturday saw two fundraising events taking place in aid of Mrs Barrett. The Shamrock Bar was bursting with music for “ShamROCK for Kathleen,” featuring the band Killing Time, with guest appearances by Karl Simmons and Brian Farrell. The lively event raised €1125 and £5 sterling.

Earlier in the day, Cloughaneely Golf Club held a successful scramble, raising €665. The winners of the scramble were Owenie “Scotch” McFadden, Damian McGlynn, Caroline McGee, and Tony Mulhern, with a winning score of 30.9. The club expressed their gratitude to all who participated and contributed.

These recent efforts add to the amazing support Mrs Barrett has received since the fire. To date, more than €25,000 has been raised to help her rebuild her life. Donations are still being accepted through the GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/fd1aaab5
