Tom Giblin’s live nativity is the GOAT!

Letterkenny-based Tom Giblin has donated a fantastic €4,567 to charity following another successful live nativity and Christmas lights event.

Tom, who is known for his love of miniature farm animals, launched a live nativity in 2022 at his home at Lisnennan. Families get to visit and see mini pigs, ponies and more while supporting sixteen local charities.

Tom has revealed that last December’s event has raised its biggest amount yet. And there was even more to celebrate as his farm recently welcomed a new baby miniature goat!

Storm Éowyn roared through in January, bringing fierce winds and heavy rain. But amidst the chaos, a little miracle arrived – a baby goat was born in Lisnenan to her proud parents, Dotty and Ozzo – who were both big players in the Nativity stable. Inspired by the storm that welcomed her, Tom has named her Yowné (an anagram of Éowyn). Yowné has already booked her spot in the Nativity stables for 2025!

Yowné recently oversaw the handover of a cheque from Tom to Fr. Ciaran Harkin P.P. Church of the Irish Martyrs.

Organisers said: “As we wrap up another magical season at the Tom Giblin Nativity & Christmas Lights  Display 2024, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who donated towards our 16 incredible charities. Your generosity and kindness truly make a difference.

“A massive thank you also goes to all who helped out in any way – whether it was setting up, assisting on opening evening, managing social media, or dismantling everything after the season. Every effort, big or small, was deeply appreciated. To our neighbours and friends – your continued support and kind words mean the world to us.”

“Thank you all once again for making this event so special. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!”

The sixteen benefitting charities are St Vincent De Paul Letterkenny, Children’s Hospital Crumlin/Temple Street, Pieta House North West, the Jack & Jill Foundation, Little Blue Heroes, the Irish Wheelchair Association, Bumbleance Donegal, MS Ireland/Donegal, Little Angels School, St. Bernadettes Special School, Donegal Hospice, Donegal Down Syndrome, the Blue Stack Special Needs Foundation, the Good & New Cancer Bus Letterkenny, the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary, and the Alzheimer Society of Ireland/Donegal.
