Letterkenny-based Dr Dineo Moiloa-Murphy aims to inspire and empower the next generation of African women in Ireland with the launch of a pageant.

Dineo Moiloa-Murphy, a native of South Africa, is a Specialist Emergency Physician at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Outside of work, she dedicates her time to being active in the African community.

Dineo is proud to present the first running of the Irish edition of Miss/Mrs Africa (MMAI), with the final taking place this summer.

This pioneering event aims to celebrate the beauty, talent, and resilience of these women, providing them with a platform to showcase their unique heritage and foster leadership, confidence, and cultural pride.

The MMAI empowerment program finale is set to take place on 30 August 2025 at the prestigious The Johnstown Estate, Co. Meath. The empowerment program will feature a series of activities, including workshops, bootcamps, and a grand finale where participants will compete for the inaugural title of Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland. There are no limiting entry requirements – no height or weight restrictions, mothers and non-mothers and no previous pageant experience required.

The event promises to be a night of elegance, inspiration, and cultural celebration, bringing together a diverse community to honour the achievements and contributions of African women in Ireland.

Dineo was previously a finalist in the Miss/Mrs Africa UK competition.

Dineo said: “We are thrilled to host this event at The Johnstown Estate, a venue that perfectly complements the elegance and significance of our program. Our goal is to empower African women, celebrate their unique stories, and provide them with opportunities for personal and professional growth.”

The event will also feature special guests, performances, and a gala dinner. Tickets for are available for purchase from the website mmai.africaireland.org.

MMAI has proudly chosen The BUD Club as their charity for the year. This inspiring organization is an inclusive provision for young people with additional and specific/complex needs. The BUD Club provides a safe, engaging, and educational space for these young people, helping them develop personal skills and create social opportunities.

Dineo said: “We are genuinely excited to support the Mayor of Derry Lilian Seenoi-Barr’s chosen Charity, BUD Club. As an empowerment platform for young women in Ireland, MMAI is passionate about fostering empowerment through dedicated community engagement, advocacy and amplifying the voice of those who are often marginalized.”

MMAI invites businesses, organizations, and community leaders to join in this initiative through partnerships.
