The funeral of one of the two young victims of a crash in west Donegal at the weekend is to take place on Thursday.

Shaun McClafferty (17) and Jamie Diver, who was in his 20s, were killed when a car they were travelling in collided with the gable wall of a house in the townland of Baltoney, just outside Gortahork,  just before 9.30pm on Friday night.

Two other passengers in the car were also seriously injured. One of those young men has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for further treatment.

The removal of the late Mr McClafferty’s remains will take place this evening at 5pm from the Chapel of Rest, Letterkenny, to his home at Baltoney. Funeral Mass will take place in Teach Pobail Chríost Rí, Gortahork, on Thursday at 11am with interment afterwards in the adjacent cemetery.

Removal and wake are private for family only, however, all are welcome to attend the funeral.

Predeceased by his grandparents, predeceased by his grandparents; John and Máire Mc Clafferty, his aunt Cáit Mc Fadden and his papa Martin Darcy. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his heartbroken parents; Michael and Sharon, sister Sara, nannie Sheila Darcy, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
