Donegal County Library Service and the Frances Browne Literary Festival are inviting blind and vision-impaired storytellers, resident in Ireland, to get involved and submit pieces for inclusion in a digital anthology to be launched in the autumn, funded through Creative Ireland.

We’re hoping to create an eclectic collection of work that’ll include all genres of writing: from simple stories to song lyrics, from spoken word poetry to slice-of-life non-fiction.

Submissions can:

  • be inspired by the life and works of Frances Browne
  • reflect the lived experiences of the storytellers
  • be drawn from the storytellers’ imaginations
  • Submissions can even be an original mix of all three!

Online info sessions will be scheduled to introduce blind and vision-impaired writers to Frances Browne’s life-story and body of work, provide an overview of different creative writing styles and offer tips on establishing a writing practice. The project facilitator will also be available via email, during the submissions window, to respond to queries.

Key Dates

Dates for online info sessions:

  • Monday 10th March 7pm
  • Monday 24th March 7pm
  • Monday 31st March 7pm

Interested individuals only need attend one information session from the available dates.

Submissions window:

Opens Monday 3rd March

Closes Sunday 31st August

Anthology launch:

Writers whose work is included in the anthology will be invited to its launch during October’s Frances Browne Literary Festival in Stranorlar Co. Donegal.

Accessibility will be a key consideration in the making of the digital anthology

The production of a printed version of the anthology will also be explored

Multiple submissions from individual writers are welcome. We’ll endeavour to include at least one piece of work from each storyteller but editorial control will remain with the project organisers.

For more information on the project and to register for an information session, please email Francesbrownestorytellers@outlook.com

Scéalaithe Frances Browne – Ag Amharc Tríd: Ceiliúradh ar Scéalaíocht Daoine a bhfuil Lagú Amhairc Orthu

Tá Seirbhís Leabharlainne Chontae Dhún na nGall agus Féile Liteartha Frances Browne ag tabhairt cuireadh do scéalaithe dalla agus lagamhairc, a bhfuil cónaí orthu in Éirinn, páirt a ghlacadh agus píosaí a chur isteach lena gcur san áireamh i ndíolaim dhigiteach a sheolfar san fhómhar, agus a mhaoineoidh Éire Ildánach. Tá súil againn bailiúchán eicléictiúil saothar a chruthú ina mbeidh gach seánra scríbhneoireachta: ó scéalta simplí go liricí amhráin, ó fhilíocht ó bhéal go neamhfhicsean den saol.

Is féidir le haighneachtaí:

  • spreagadh a fháil ó shaol agus ó shaothar Frances Browne
  • léargas a thabhairt ar thaithí saoil na scéalaithe
  • tarraingt ó shamhlaíocht na scéalaithe
  • Is féidir le haighneachtaí a bheith ina meascán bunaidh de na trí cinn fosta!

Beidh seisiúin eolais ar líne ar fáil chun scríbhneoirí dalla agus lagamhairc a chur in aithne do scéal saoil agus corpas oibre Frances Browne, chun forléargas a thabhairt ar stíleanna éagsúla scríbhneoireachta cruthaithí agus chun leideanna a thabhairt maidir le cleachtas scríbhneoireachta a bhunú. Beidh éascaitheoir an tionscadail ar fáil fosta ar ríomhphost, le linn fhuinneog na n-aighneachtaí, chun freagra a thabhairt ar cheisteanna.

Na príomhdhátaí

Dátaí na seisiún eolais ar líne:

  • Dé Luain 10 Márta 7pm
  • Dé Luain 24 Márta 7pm
  • Dé Luain 31 Márta 7pm

Ní gá do dhaoine ar spéis leo é freastal ach ar sheisiún faisnéise amháin ó na dátaí atá ar fáil.

Fuinneog na n-aighneachtaí:

Oscailte: Dé Luain 3 Márta

Dúnta: Dé Domhnaigh 31 Lúnasa

Seoladh na Díolama:

Tabharfar cuireadh do scríbhneoirí a bhfuil a saothar san áireamh sa díolaim teacht chuig a seoladh le linn Fhéile Liteartha Frances Browne i mí Dheireadh Fómhair i Srath an Urláir, Co. Dhún na nGall.

Beidh inrochtaineacht mar phríomhthosaíocht agus an díolaim dhigiteach á déanamh

Déanfar iniúchadh freisin ar leagan clóite den díolaim a tháirgeadh

Cuirtear fáilte roimh aighneachtaí ó scríbhneoirí aonair. Féachfaimid le píosa oibre amháin ar a laghad ó gach scéalaí a chur san áireamh ach beidh an eagarthóireacht faoi smacht ag eagraithe an tionscadail.

Chun tuilleadh eolais a fháil faoin tionscadal agus chun clárú le haghaidh seisiún eolais, seol ríomhphost chuig Francesbrownestorytellers@outlook.com
