Fine Gael Senator Manus Boyle has been given the role of spokesperson for Fisheries & Marine in Seanad Éireann.

The Killybegs fishing operator said he was honoured to accept the position from Tánaiste Simon Harris.

“This is a strong step forward in Fine Gael’s commitment to revitalising Ireland’s fishing industry. There’s a lot to be done, but I’m ready as always to get started,” Senator Boyle said on his appointment yesterday.

“It’s a great day for the industry and another step forward in the right direction.”

Senator Boyle is a member of the Dunkineely, Bruckless and Killybegs Branch of Fine Gael and the director of Killybegs Stevedoring Limited.

Senator Boyle’s replacement on Donegal County Council will be selected in the coming weeks.
